Train timetable and services Portsmouth

Portsmouth is well-connected by train.

Portsmouth Harbour, Portsmouth and Southsea, Fratton and Hilsea stations are all on the mainline to London Waterloo. Direct services depart for the capital at least every 30 minutes and take as little as an hour and a half.

There are also direct services from Portsmouth stations to Brighton, Winchester, Bristol, Salisbury and Cardiff Central, and then indirect services on up to the Midland and the North of England.

There are four train stations in Portsmouth: Hilsea, Fratton, Portsmouth and Southsea and Portsmouth Harbour. 

Fratton is close to Portsmouth Football Club’s ground, Fratton Park and in easy reach of thousands of homes and businesses in Southsea and Fratton.  

Portsmouth and Southsea is just a two minute walk from city centre shops and business, the Guildhall and the council’s Civic Offices.

Portsmouth Harbour is a short walk from a range of attractions, including the shops and restaurants at Gunwharf Quays, the Spinnaker Tower, and Historic Dockyard. Passengers can also hop off a train at Portsmouth Harbour and be close to ferry connections to the Isle of Wight and Gosport, or jump on a bus and explore the rest of the city.

South Western Railway operates direct and regular services to London Waterloo, Winchester, Basingstoke, Southampton and Brighton.

Southern Trains operates direct and regular services along the south coast to Brighton. Other destinations along these routes include Cosham, Havant, Chichester, Worthing and Hove.

Great Western Railway operates an hourly service to Cardiff. The service also stops at Salisbury, Bath and Bristol.
