Green Space Challenge is a free, family-friendly walking event which showcases the incredible green spaces in the Milton, Baffins and Great Salterns area.

This is a fantastic activity to get children and adults on their feet and out in the fresh air exploring the natural environment, with the added bonus of collecting prizes.

Along the route there will be four activity stations where you can chat with friendly representatives from our partner organisations - Portsmouth Friends of the Earth, Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust, Baffins Pond Association and our own Active Travel Team. Each station will feature fun activities to get involved with.

To start the challenge simply collect a stamp card and pedometer from the council's activity station at Baffins Pond, behind Alderman Lacey Library, and get your card stamped at each station to win prizes.

The 3km route will lead walkers around Baffins Pond, Great Salterns and Milton Common. You should be able to complete the challenge within one to two hours, depending on your level of fitness and how much time you spend at each activity station.

If the weather's good, why not bring a picnic and make a day of it? There are shops and cafes on Tangier Road as well as a Onestop on Hayling Avenue.  Please remember to dress appropriately for the weather, and bring a bottle of water with you to stay hydrated.

Green Space Challenge takes place from 11am to 3pm on Saturday 20 October. There is no registration required.
